Best weapon for a swarm of Cacodemons?

What weapon would you expect to have if you where confronted by a swarm of Cacodemons?

Rocket launcher. I guess BFG is also a valid option if there's a lot of them.

BFG9000, and the Rocket Launcher will be the most effective if the Cacodemons are close together.

The BFG9000 has a delay in firing which leaves you vulnerable for attack from enemies.

The Rocket Launcher has the potential to damage the player if enemies are close enough to the player or if the player shoots a wall by accident.

For narrow corridors, the Plasma Gun will burn through any enemy if you have enough Energy Cells.

The best weapon for eliminating swarms or hordes of any monster type is the Gluon Gun by Major Cooke, use straferunning for good effect. It slices through any monster effortlessly.

I would use regular shotgun to save ammo, but if it's in a tiny room plasma gun will do.

BFG for sure, but if I don't have access to one or ammo is sparse, rocket launcher all the way. While it takes a couple rockets to kill a single Caco, thanks to the explosion radius damage, the rocket-per-casualty rate drops considerably as their numbers increase.

I would argue that since it's a caco it's not gonna be an ammo waste. They never go down in one shot
