About This File

This is not a deathmatch simulator, but rather a deathmatch warmup. Many enemies that not only look like but act like players in this patch/wad. Use this when you can't find somebody or need to warm up!

Good concept, but it's not the best in the world. Most of the guys have plasma rifles and almost all of them can't have/switch to other weapons. Deserves 4/5. -Ghoul Hunter

I don't know what to say about this one. It's a good concept, but when it comes down to the gameplay, it's... nothing short of fighting monsters on Hurt me Plenty Level. I guess this wad was created before the rise of Bots for Doom came about. The Map reminds me of MrDoom.wad probably in it's early stages. What this all boils down to is, there is absolutely no way this wad could replace a Deathmatch in any way. That's what Skulltag and Zdoom is for :-)

I'm impressed he figured out how to get the 'plasma marines' to move while shooting, i could never get that right in DEH format. The map is average 90's DM stuff, very random.

This is rather ingenious. There's an idle SS guy that you shoot which causes the other "players" to spawn onto the map, that you then fight. The level layout is interesting and very good for a deathmatch. My only real gripe is that the other players move slowly compared to your guy, but this was because the author had to use modified doom monsters scince there was no "proper" bots for Doom available in late 1997/early 1998. Anyway, 4 stars

2fort on it's original incarnation.   Pretty great.

The first ever version of 2fort. It barely resembles its later incarnations.   Crazy how an entire franchise and FPS genre spawned from a single map. It's a crime that the origins of Team Fortress have been forgotten. Most people don't know anything before Quake/TF1 2fort, but nope, this is yet another massively influential thing that the Doom community can claim.

Great fun. Bleak, metal-driven style over fairly easy substance, which is a good thing. I can see the song getting annoying in a more challenging map.

Pretty fun map if you want some quick, easy slaughter fun. Just sucks a bit that you can just cheese the whole thing by leaving the arena and running around at the edges of the map. Cool to play with gameplay mods tho!   Music is alright but it does get a little annoying after a while.

Classic, sober, simple tech map that I'm fond of. The flow of the map is like a river, and the backtrack (that myself is usually upset about) is intuitive to follow. The teleport repopulation is smart enough. I don't know about the health/ammo tightness other comments talked about because I played with a mod.
